Land warrants and certificates, 1782-1837.

The majority of these warrants and certificates were issued by Virginia prior to Kentucky statehood. The remainder was issued by the Commonwealth. Several of the warrants in the group were issued on behalf of John Carter or Frederick Warnick. The most recent document in the group, dated 1837, bears a clear impression of another version of the Kentucky state seal, this showing the two figures farther apart than previously was the case.
